What Makes an Entrepreneur Successful? – If you are just starting out on your entrepreneurial adventure, or if you’ve done it before but need a few suggestions and some advice so you can do it better this time, there is one thing you must know for sure; you must know how to maximize your time and be as productive as possible. It’s not always straightforward. We are bombarded with many distractions on any given day, and time can often slip away from us before we know it. Read on for some helpful tips about how to be successful as an entrepreneur.
Delegate
If things get too much, as they occasionally do, it is all right to assign certain duties to another member of your team. If you don’t have a team, it’s fine to outsource if necessary. In fact, this is often the best thing to do when it comes to keeping your office clean, for example. As long as everything is completed and the quality is not compromised, you can afford to relinquish some control.
Invented Deadlines
If you’re like many entrepreneurs, you work best when there’s a deadline looming – and even better when that deadline is about to pass. You can guarantee that you complete all tasks ahead of schedule by setting fake deadlines and putting them in your work calendar. Of course, some of your deadlines will be genuine, and they will be mixed in with the artificial ones, but that isn’t an issue – approach them all with the same feeling of urgency, and everything should be done when it needs to be done, and often before it needs to be done. However, the one thing to remember is that you must be realistic and not overburden yourself, or else you won’t complete the job to a good enough level.
Put Your Phone Down
When you own a company, it’s tough to unplug from your phone since someone constantly seems to need you, and you don’t want to run the risk of not being available for something important. However, if you’re going to get your jobs done fast and effectively, you should leave your mobile phone in another room.
Work ‘phone breaks’ into your daily routine so you can check your voicemails, emails, and even – if you really need to (but don’t get too side-tracked) – your social media accounts. When you don’t have your phone by your side, you can focus on what you’re meant to be doing instead of taking breaks to glance at the screen next to you. Those minutes quickly add up.
Pay Attention to Your Body
Your body tends to tell you things, and successful, productive entrepreneurs will pay attention. You should eat if you are hungry. You should drink if you are thirsty. If your eyes are strained, your head hurts, or you are uncomfortable in your seat, go outdoors and away from the screen. Sometimes you’ll be in the midst of designing an essential business website, or you’ll be ready to make a phone call, or you’ll be arranging a shipment of products to a client…
However, if you want to be completely productive, listen to your body and do what it tells you. Then, you can return to these other jobs later; just remember not to get distracted and to keep to your deadlines, artificial or not.
